A Store porter will maintain the security and quality of the hotel stores so that administrative processes are managed in a timely manner.
What will I be doing?
As Store porter, you will maintain the security and quality of the hotel stores so that administrative processes are managed in a timely manner and that colleagues are well served in the hotel's operational environment. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Maintain the security of stores and follow the correct key procedures
- Ensure that delivered items are correct and in high-quality condition
- Complete administrative duties in relation to the purchasing system
- Forward, on a daily basis, requisitions and transfers to purchasing
- Communicate with all Heads of Departments regarding stock shortages and unavailable items
- Maintain the cleanliness of all stores and delivery areas
- Conduct regular temperature checks on goods on a daily basis
- Deliver stock to correct outlets
- Ensure stock and purchasing records are always current
- Ensure requisitions are placed for all stock leaving stores
- Support monthly stock takes
- Report any maintenance and/or hazard issues to the Supervisor on duty
- Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures particularly relating to food and beverage items
- Execute on tasks/requests as instructed by the Finance Manager and/or General Manager

Customer Service:
- Greet customers as they enter the store and provide assistance with inquiries.
- Address customer complaints and resolve issues to ensure a positive shopping experience.

Sales Support:
- Assist customers in finding products, making recommendations, and answering product-related questions.
- Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.

Merchandising:
- Stock shelves and displays with products, ensuring items are organized and visually appealing.
- Maintain product inventory and assist with inventory counts and restocking as needed.

Store Maintenance:
- Keep the store clean and organized, including sweeping, dusting, and tidying up merchandise.
- Ensure that all promotional signage and displays are updated and correctly positioned.

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- Previous store experience with stock control responsibility
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in retail or business is a plus.
- Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
