Position Overview:
The State of Michigans Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking a skilled Java with React Developer to join our dynamic team. This role will involve developing maintaining and enhancing web applications that support transportation initiatives and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development proficiency in React.js and experience working in a government or public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design develop and implement web applications using Java and React.js to meet the needs of MDOT.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including project managers UX/UI designers and other developers to gather requirements and create technical specifications.
- Write clean maintainable and efficient code while adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers.
- Troubleshoot debug and optimize existing applications for performance and scalability.
- Participate in agile development processes including sprint planning standups and retrospectives.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and propose enhancements to existing applications and development processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in Java development and React.js.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Proficiency in frontend technologies including HTML CSS and JavaScript.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git).
- Knowledge of database management systems (e.g. MySQL PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and development tools (e.g. JIRA Confluence).
- Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in government or public sector software development.
- Familiarity with transportation systems or logistics applications.
- Knowledge of cloud services (e.g. AWS Azure) and DevOps practices.
