What we are looking for
We are looking for an Energy Infrastructure Manager to lead the deployment operation and maintenance of our energy network which powers our 2wheeler electric vehicles in Kenya. Reporting to the Country Management and collaborating closely with the Engineering team this role requires expertise in electrical systems site selection and charging infrastructure deployment as well as strong relationship management with commercial site owners and utility companies.

What does the job involve
- Site Selection & Assessment:
- Collaborate with the site selection team to assess potential locations for deploying our energy network (battery swap stations and destination/fast chargers).
- Evaluate electrical load capacity infrastructure requirements and site suitability for charging infrastructure installation.
- Installation of Hardware:
- Install connect and commission EV charging stations ensuring all work complies with local electrical codes manufacturer guidelines and bestinclass safety standards.
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of deployed charging infrastructure to ensure optimal operation.
- Coordination with power utility suppliers and stakeholders:
- Liaise with electricity power utilities (Kenya Power EPRA) to secure necessary permits and ensure proper grid integration.
- Coordinate utility upgrades and service connections as needed to support the operation of our energy network.
- Commercial site owner management:
- Work closely with commercial site owners to manage deployment timelines site access and ongoing maintenance.
- Address any concerns or issues that arise during deployment or operation ensuring a positive relationship with site stakeholders.
- Operation & Maintenance:
- Regularly monitor and maintain EV charging infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
- Perform routine inspections preventive maintenance and repairs as necessary to address any faults proactively.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and provide technical advice and/or support as needed.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of deployment inspection and maintenance activities.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on our energy network performance top issues and corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Qualified Electrician with BSc Electrical Engineering or other relevant degree.
- 3 years of solar systems installation experience preferred.
- Experience in deploying charging infrastructure for charging electric vehicles (EVs). This includes destination/fast chargers and battery swap stations.
- Proven handson experience in project management delivering complex projections with demanding timelines.
- Proven handson experience in working with commercial site owners and electricity power utilities companies.
- Familiarity with local electrical codes regulations and best practices related to EV infrastructure.
- Valid Class T3 certification as a Solar Photovolatic Technician issued by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) is a plus
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems including load calculations and optimizing power distribution.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical manuals of power systems.
- Excellent problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to travel to various sites across urban centers in Kenya as required.
