Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Specialist (Allied)

Location: Saranac Lake NY 12983

Guaranteed Hours: 40

Duration: 13 Weeks Contract

Shift: 8hr Days

Pay Rate: $63/hr

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detailoriented Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this role you will be responsible for performing a wide range of diagnostic tests on patient samples to assist physicians in diagnosing treating and monitoring various medical conditions. You will work in a fastpaced clinical laboratory environment utilizing advanced laboratory equipment and technologies.

  • 8 hour shifts
  • Bachelors degree in Science
  • Current NYS license as Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) Medical Technologist (MT) or Histotechnologist (HTL).
  • 1 years grossing experience preferred.
  • Responsible for the accurate gross description dissection and processing of all biopsies routine and moderate complexity tissue specimens according to established protocols under the direct supervision of the Pathologist and/or Pathology Supervisor. Participates in limited technical activities of the Pathology department when needed such as accessioning staining cover slipping routine maintenance and cytology specimen preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic tests on blood tissue and body fluid samples in areas such as hematology microbiology immunology and clinical chemistry.
  • Analyze and interpret test results ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment ensuring all tools are calibrated and functioning properly.
  • Adhere to strict quality control procedures and laboratory safety standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians pathologists and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate test results.
  • Document and manage patient data ensuring confidentiality and proper recordkeeping.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and resolve any discrepancies in test results.
  • Stay updated with advancements in laboratory techniques and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
  • Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist (e.g. ASCP AMT or equivalent).
  • Proven experience working in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory protocols and quality control procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
