You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailWe are seeking a diligent and experienced Kitchen Chief Steward to join our dynamic team. As the Kitchen Chief Steward, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency of our kitchen. You will work closely with our culinary team to maintain high standards of hygiene and sanitation while supporting the smooth flow of kitchen operations.
Responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in all kitchen areas, including food preparation stations, equipment, and storage areas.
Manage inventory of kitchen supplies, chemicals, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and coordinating with purchasing departments.
Lead and supervise a team of stewarding staff, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure efficient operations.
Oversee waste management procedures, including proper disposal and recycling practices, in compliance with environmental regulations.
Support kitchen staff during meal services by ensuring timely delivery of clean dishes, utensils, and equipment.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and address any issues promptly.
Dishwashing and Cleaning:
Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, glassware, and kitchen equipment.
Ensure that dishwashing areas are clean and organized.
Kitchen Maintenance:
Assist in maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, including sweeping, mopping, and wiping down surfaces.
Dispose of waste and manage recycling in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Equipment Care:
Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in good working order.
Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
Support to Kitchen Staff:
Assist chefs and cooks with food preparation and ingredient organization when needed.
Help with inventory management by organizing and restocking supplies.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring safe food handling practices.
Maintain a clean and sanitary environment to comply with local health codes.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth operations during peak times.
Assist with other duties as needed to support the overall functioning of the kitchen.
Proven experience in a similar role within the hospitality or culinary industry.
Strong knowledge of sanitation standards, food safety guidelines, and kitchen operations.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
Certification in food safety and sanitation is preferred.
Attention to Detail:
Meticulous in cleaning and sanitizing to maintain high hygiene standards.
Time Management:
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, particularly during peak service times.
Teamwork:
Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with kitchen and service staff.
