The Role of Lead Americas Scout
The main responsibility of the Lead Americas Scout is to help identify and assess players from all levels in North & South America. To assist Brentford FC in identifying and recruiting undervalued players faster and more effectively than our competitors. The role covers the recruitment of players for the 1st Team and B Team (U21) squads.
Main Accountabilities
- To lead on the identification assessment and shortlisting of suitable player targets for Brentford Football Club from the Americas (North & South).
- To work closely with the Lead Americas Technical Scout in the assessment of suitable player profiles identified through data / resource in the Americas (North & South).
- To lead and work closely with Country/Area specific scouts within the Americas to identify the most suitable player targets within specified markets to help inform the Americas final shortlisting process.
- To lead on agent / external network communication on players within the Americas to gather market intelligence to inform the scouting process.
- To provide monthly position specific player recommendations for the Americas.
- To work effectively within the defined Scouting Department processes to ensure serious players of interest are identified and progressed faster and more effectively than our competitors.
- To attend live fixtures in the Americas proactively and on the request of the Head of Scouting / Technical Director.
- To work closely with the Head of Scouting / Technical Director to ensure comprehensive due diligence on all Americas players of interest.
- To assist the Head of Scouting / Technical Director on any additional responsibilities relevant to your role and area covered.
- To ensure that any concerns you observe or are raised with you in your role are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels.

Person Specification Essential Personal Characteristics
High level of current knowledge and experience working within Americas markets (North & South).
A strong and established network of contacts working within football at an elite level.
Ability to attend live games and pick out the best most suitable players for a football clubs positional criteria.
Ability to work with data / resource to provide assessment on players in alignment with a football clubs positional criteria.
Ability to articulate player assessments effectively through verbal and written communication.
Ability to work effectively within clearly defined processes.
Experience of using relevant football scouting video platforms.
IT literate competent in the use of Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint.
Organised structured and process driven.
Proactive mindset.
Person Specification Desirable Characteristics
- Based in South America.
- Multilingual ability to speak English as well as Spanish and/or Portuguese.
- Minimum 3 years experience or knowledge of working within a professional football club scouting department at an elite level.
- Football related qualifications and/or sports related bachelors degree qualification or similar education.
- Ability to edit / clip video footage using platforms such as WyScout iMovie Windows Video Editor etc.
