3 months contract with local authority
The position sits within the Telecare and Sensory Team which is part of the Older People and Physical Disabilities Services in Adult Social Care. The Sensory Team support residents with Sight Loss Hearing Loss and Dual Sensory Loss (Deafblind) to meet their social care needs promote their independence and help them achieve their goals and outcomes in order to improve their wellbeing. The team undertakes Sensory Needs assessments/reviews under the Care Act 2014 provide equipment minor adaptations lighting assessments and vision rehabilitation (e.g. daily living tasks and indoor and outdoor mobility training). Additionally the service provides advice to residents to optimise the safety and independence and provides a wider advisory role around visual impairment to wider health and social care colleagues. The post holder will mentor and supervise staff (including apprentices) manage a caseload of specialist visual impairment rehabilitation provide visual impairment advice and support to colleagues across Adult Social Care waiting list management and work prioritisation. The post holder will also be responsible for keeping up to date with new developments and technologies to ensure the independence of residents with a sensory impairment is maximised. The post holder will build strong links with partner agencies and advocate for residents to access appropriate services.
