Job Description:

We are hiring a highly organized and professional Legal Secretary to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will provide essential administrative support to our legal department ensuring the smooth running of daily operations. As a Legal Secretary you will assist our lawyers and legal staff by performing a variety of tasks that contribute to the effective management of cases and legal documents. Your role will include maintaining legal files preparing correspondence scheduling meetings and interacting with clients.

Requirements

  • NCE / OND / HND/ BSC/ Masters in Business Administration Accounting or related field or (Associates degree or certification in Legal Studies preferred).
  • Proven experience of 3 to 5 years as a Legal Secretary or similar administrative role in a law firm or legal department.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
  • Familiarity with legal terminology procedures and court systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience with legal software and case management systems is an added advantage.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize effectively in a fastpaced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft review and proofread legal documents including contracts briefs and court filings.
  • Manage and organize legal files and maintain case documentation in an accurate and uptodate manner.
  • Schedule court hearings client meetings and legal appointments.
  • Coordinate with courts clients and other legal professionals to manage case schedules and deadlines.
  • Handle telephone calls and correspondence (emails letters etc.).
  • Maintain an effective filing system and retrieve legal records when necessary.
  • Perform legal research under the supervision of attorneys.
  • Transcribe dictations and prepare legal documents from written drafts.
  • Assist with billing and tracking expenses related to cases.
  • Ensure timely submission of court documents and meet all required deadlines.
