Our client a key player in Indonesias mining sector known for its significant copper and gold operations commitment to sustainability and innovative approaches to environmental and social responsibility is currently seeking a Engineering Smelter Manager.
The Engineering Smelter Manager will be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities related to the copper and gold smelting operations. This role includes managing a team of engineers ensuring efficient and safe operation of smelting processes and optimizing production to achieve organizational goals.
Key Duties Include:
Leadership & Management
- Lead the engineering team for safe and efficient smelting plant operations
- Mentor staff and foster a culture of continuous improvement
- Promote crossdepartment collaboration for operational excellence
Process & Operations Management
- Oversee design development and optimization of copper and gold smelting processes
- Ensure compliance with safety operational and environmental standards
- Monitor production metrics to enhance efficiency and maximize throughput
Project Management
- Manage engineering projects from planning to execution ensuring timely delivery within scope
- Coordinate with stakeholders for project success
Technical Expertise
- Provide technical support to the engineering team and other departments
- Stay updated on industry trends and troubleshoot complex issues
Health Safety and Environment (HSE)
- Foster a strong safety culture and ensure HSE compliance
- Lead safety initiatives and implement environmental management systems
Quality Control
- Ensure product quality meets industry standards and customer specifications
- Collaborate with quality assurance to establish control processes
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Develop and manage the engineering budget for resource efficiency
- Identify costsaving opportunities and process improvements
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Represent the company in technical discussions and negotiations
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Metallurgical Chemical Mechanical or related field) Master s degree or professional certification (e.g. P.Eng. CEng) is highly desirable
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering roles within the mining or metallurgical industry with at least 5 years in a managerial position
- Strong knowledge of copper and gold smelting processes equipment and technology
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a diverse team
- Excellent problemsolving analytical and decisionmaking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a crossfunctional team environment
