Lead Ruby Software Architect
Global Leading Non-for-Profit Nature Conservation Organisation are looking for a hands-on Lead Ruby Architect to join their team, working on their most strategic project on their flagship product! This company helps to conserve endangered species, climate change, oceans and natural landscape.
Please note this role would include one day working in office per month in Cambridge.
Role – Lead Ruby Architect
In this role, you will be leading the development of their core software application and will be responsible for hiring into the team, dealing with internal and external stakeholders, managing the team, and be involved with all aspects of the project lifecycle. You will be working on setting the technical direction, providing technical leadership and shaping the architectural decisions to leverage the organisations growth to provide better outcomes for wildlife. This role provides complex and challenging work but will be critical to shaping their innovation within their space.
Lead Ruby Architect Requirements:
7 years of Ruby and Ruby on Rails Development
3 years in a software team leadership position in an agile or shape up environment
Strong experience with React, Vue, or Hotwire
Experience with the use of Unix-based operating systems
Experience in developing APIs in Ruby on Rails
Experience with updating software and databases on Unix-based systems
Experience working within a Test Driven Development (TDD) environment
Keen interest in the environment, natural world, and biodiversity conservation.
Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Environmental Science or related field (Desirable but not essential)
Experience with Web-based mapping tools, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), PostGIS, ArcGIS, and QGIS (Desirable but not essential)
