Job Description: Head Nurse

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) provides emergency and urgent care for the counties of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Devon Dorset Somerset Wiltshire Gloucestershire and the former Avon area (Bristol Bath North and North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire). The Trust is a highquality effective and efficient NHS organisation and the primary provider of 999 ambulance services across its operational area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee nursing staff in the delivery of highquality emergency and urgent care services.
- Coordinate patient care ensuring that all team members are compliant with NHS protocols and guidelines.
- Manage and mentor nursing staff providing support training and performance evaluations.
- Ensure effective communication within the team and with other healthcare professionals.
- Monitor and maintain standards of patient care ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Participate in the development and implementation of patient care initiatives.
- Address and resolve any issues or concerns regarding patient care and team performance.
- Contribute to strategic planning and operational management of nursing services.
- Stay updated with the latest practices technologies and regulations in emergency healthcare.
Essential Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with valid professional certification.
- Proven leadership and management ss within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of emergency care protocols and practices.
- Effective communication and interpersonal ss.
- Ability to work under pressure and make critical decisions in emergencies.
Desired Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in emergency or urgent care.
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a nursing capacity.
- Background in ambulance services or prehospital care preferred.
