Job Title: Executive Director
Location: Albany NY (Hybrid)
We are currently seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the Commissions mission.
- Provide visionary leadership to staff stakeholders and the community promoting inclusivity and transparency.
- Collaborate with public advocates community leaders and experts to gather testimony and insights on reparation remedies.
- Represent the Commission at public forums media engagements and legislative meetings to effectively communicate the Commissions goals.
- Conduct research and ysis on historical injustices and reparative justice integrating national and international best practices.
- Develop actionable policy recommendations and advocacy strategies for the Commissions report to the Governor.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments adjusting strategies to align with new opportunities and challenges.
- Build relationships with government agencies advocacy groups and community organizations to support the Commissions objectives.
- Engage with affected communities to understand their perspectives on reparation remedies.
- Facilitate community meetings listening sessions and public forums to ensure diverse voices are included in the Commissions work.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders and stakeholders to promote transparency and inclusivity.
- Manage daytoday operations including staff management budgeting and reporting under the direction of the Chair of the Commission.
- ist in hiring key administrative legal and communications staff to support the Commissions objectives.
- Oversee the scheduling and logistics of public meetings hearings and activities ensuring broad community representation across New York State.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance and prepare progress reports and recommendations for the Commission.
- Provide expert guidance and strategic advice on the Commissions initiatives public engagement strategies and best practices for achieving its mission.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of leadership experience with a focus on social justice policy development and reparative justice.
- At least three years of experience in a senior executive role.
- Masters degree in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning community engagement data collection and research.
- Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse communities government agencies and advocacy groups.
- Experience in managing largescale initiatives including staff oversight budgeting and public engagement efforts.
