Location: Various locations across British Columbia
The Health Information Technician is responsible for managing and organizing health information data ensuring accuracy accessibility and security. This role plays a key part in maintaining patient records and supporting compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect analyze and maintain patient health information and medical records.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of health records.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards including HIPAA.
- Participate in audits to verify the integrity of health information.
- Work closely with healthcare providers to facilitate the exchange of patient information.
- Train staff on proper documentation practices and health information management.
Requirements
- Associates degree in Health Information Technology or a related field; certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
- Experience in health information management or medical records with familiarity in coding and billing processes.
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and health information management software.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
