Job Description
Job Title: Optical Network Engineer 3
Department: Network Operations
Location: Remote
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optical Network Engineer 3 to join our team. This role will be responsible for designing deploying configuring and maintaining our optical network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with optical transport networks and the ability to work independently under general supervision in a fastpaced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Design build configure and manage the installation and maintenance of optical transport networks including infrastructure setup hardware commissioning and decommissioning of obsolete equipment.
- Execute complex work packages and network designs received via workflow tools including:
- Verifying network designs against physical networks.
- Confirming material orders and work requests.
- Coordinating tasks with other teams to complete work requests.
- Developing and executing Change Requests including detailed Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
- Full deployment and provisioning of various optical network elements and services.
- Perform scheduled maintenance window activities including network maintenance augments optimizations and troubleshooting.
- Provide Tier II technical support for Provisioning ENOC and Operations teams.
- Troubleshoot and provision key optical transport equipment including Nokia PSS CISCO NCS2015 and Ciena 6500 systems.
- Ensure accurate documentation and ticket status reporting across all assignments.
- Support break/fix incidents and participate in a 24/7 oncall rotation as needed.
- 3 years of experience in Optical Transport deployment operations and maintenance.
- Proven experience with optical network providers or vendors in operations or engineering roles.
- Expertise in building optical networking infrastructure and working with optical networking equipment and systems.
- Handson experience with optical transport equipment including Nokia PSS CISCO NCS2015 and Ciena 6500.
- Familiarity with routing protocols optical transport systems provisioning and troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of OTN SONET and DWDM technologies.
- Ability to interpret complex work packages execute tasks independently and ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fastpaced environment.
- Ability to perform critical network changes on live customer circuits without causing outages.
- Experience in building and managing largescale optical networking infrastructure.
- Familiarity with common service configurations for optical transport systems.
- Creative problemsolving skills with a high degree of autonomy in decisionmaking.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 oncall rotation providing support for troubleshooting and operational incidents.
- Must be able to work under pressure with strict deadlines both independently and as part of a team.
