COMMERCIAL LITIGATION OCIATE

• Drafting complex case evaluations drafting pleadings motions and other litigation documents
• Working on all aspects of litigation from inception through trial and appeal where relevant
• Conducting legal research and writing memoranda
• Conducting propounding and responding to discovery (documents written discovery depositions)
• Working with clients witnesses experts and other counsel
• Analyzing insurance coverage and extracontractual disputes including drafting coverage opinions or other coverage analyses

Technical skills

• 2 6 years of experience with complex litigation
• Experience with insurance coverage litigation is a strong plus but we also will consider candidates with strong litigation experience who have an interest in highlevel insurance coverage litigation dispute analysis and coverage assessments
• An interest in emerging risks in insurance and environmental and products liability underlying litigation is also a plus
• Strong writing and case management skills level appropriate direct experience handling clients and adversaries and excellent oral advocacy skills
• Federal District Court or Appellate clerkship is a plus

Other requirements

• Must be licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and be in good standing (or candidates may also be licensed in any US state or territory if they are also eligible to waive into the District of Columbia Bar pursuant to DC Court of Appeals Rule 49 and agree to apply for an Exception to admission immediately upon accepting an offer of employment)
• Must include a law school transcript and writing sample with application
