Overview:
The Welder Aerospace plays a crucial role in the aerospace industry by fabricating and welding metal components for aircraft and spacecraft. They are responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and safety of aerospace parts through precision welding techniques and adherence to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and follow aerospace blueprints and engineering specifications for welding projects
- Utilize various welding techniques such as TIG MIG and Resistance welding to fuse metal components
- Inspect welds to ensure they meet aerospace quality standards and specifications
- Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop efficient welding processes
- Conduct nondestructive testing (NDT) on welded joints to identify any defects
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations in a highrisk aerospace manufacturing environment
- Document and maintain welding records and certifications
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in welding processes and quality control
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and superiors regarding welding projects and progress
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in welding is a plus
- Proven experience as a welder in the aerospace or related industry
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting aerospace blueprints and technical drawings
- Knowledge of various welding techniques and their applications in aerospace manufacturing
- Familiarity with aerospace materials such as aluminum titanium and composites
- Understanding of aerospace quality standards and regulations (e.g. NADCAP AS9100)
- Ability to perform and interpret nondestructive testing (NDT) on welded joints
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing highquality defectfree welds
- Physical dexterity and ability to work in confined spaces and at various heights
- Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to troubleshoot welding issues
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols and procedures
- Welding certifications and qualifications consistent with aerospace industry standards
- Ability to obtain security clearance for aerospace projects
- Flexibility to work in shifts and overtime as required in the aerospace manufacturing environment
