Infrastructure Architect
Location: Remote
Clearance: Active IRS MBI Required

Project Overview:
The project involves a ServiceOriented Architecture (SOA) based system used for electronically filing tax returns with the IRS. The system processes validates and submits returns to other IRS platforms for further handling. This role will lead efforts to modernize the infrastructure in alignment with the IRSs future state architecture ensuring continued enhancements and improvements to meet evolving requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Architecture Development: Lead a team of architects to evolve modernized efile platform infrastructure architecture and align with IRSs future state architecture (35%).
- Cloud & Container Migration: Provide architectural recommendations and solutions for migrating the modernized efile platform to containers and the cloud (35%).
- Team Leadership: Manage and coordinate activities of three senior infrastructure architects (20%).
- Estimation & Impact Assessments: Provide LoE estimates for Impact Assessments and VROMs (5%).
- DevSecOps Implementation: Make recommendations for increasing modernized efile platforms DevSecOps maturity (5%).
Required Skills/Experience:
- 10 years experience developing infrastructure architectures for large complex programs.
- 10 years of strong customer communication skills (both oral and written).
- 4 years experience maintaining infrastructure requirements for large Java EE applications.
- 4 years experience with cloud migration and microservices transformation.
- 4 years experience with the Linux platform server and network virtualization.
- 4 years experience with information security for large sensitive Java applications.
- 4 years experience with CM tools (e.g. IBM EWM Git SCM).
- 3 years experience developing (V)ROM estimates.
- 3 years experience with infrastructure products (JBoss EAP WebSphere IBM MQ).
- 2 years experience implementing DevSecOps practices.
- 5 years experience leading teams of architects or developers.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with relational databases Agile methodologies and CMMI Level 3 Process Areas.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Puppet Chef or Ansible.
- Experience with WebMethods EAIB API Gateways and ESB.
- Experience with Ping Identity.
Other Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Experience with Engineering Workflow Management (EWM) and CMMI Level 3.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Clearance: Active IRS MBI/58C Tier 2RS clearance required.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien with at least 3 years of U.S. residency.
- Must obtain and maintain IRS Full Background Investigation (FBI) clearance.
