Overview:
The role of a Registered Nurse in the Cath Lab is pivotal in providing quality care and support to patients undergoing cardiac procedures. This position plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth running of the Cath Lab and the wellbeing of patients before during and after procedures. The Registered NurseCath Lab collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients conditions before procedures
- Monitor patients vital signs during procedures
- Administer medications as ordered by the cardiologist
- Assist in patient positioning and preparation for procedures
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and standards in the Cath Lab
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure efficient patient flow
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance with regulatory standards
- Document patient information accurately and promptly
- Assist in the maintenance and stocking of Cath Lab supplies
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment
- Support research activities and data collection as required
- Respond to emergencies and provide immediate care as needed
- Ensure infection control and environmental safety in the Cath Lab
Required Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience preferably in a cardiac care setting
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac medications and interventions
- Strong critical thinking and decisionmaking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to remain calm and focused in highpressure situations
- Detailoriented with exceptional organizational skills
- Proficiency in using medical equipment and technology
- Commitment to providing compassionate and patientcentered care
