Researching trends
Fashion designers study current trends and anticipate what will be popular with consumers. They may consult sales or retail teams research competitors or review fashion blogs and magazines.
Creating designs
Fashion designers use computeraided design (CAD) programs or sketch designs by hand. They may also develop mood boards to capture a mood with photos fabric samples or color samples.
Selecting materials

Collaborating with others

Managing production
Fashion designers oversee the final production of their designs including fittings pricing and marketing.
