SFA are seeking a Systems Administrator with CADS/RMS experience for our Washington DC based client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hardware and Software Management:
- Oversee the installation configuration maintenance and support of all hardware and software systems used by the Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD).
- Ensure all MTPD systems including mobile devices desktops laptops and police vehicle technology (modems laptops) are operating efficiently and securely.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to hardware or software ensuring minimal downtime for missioncritical systems.
- Client Installation & Configuration:
- Manage the installation and configuration of software clients on MTPD desktops laptops and mobile devices.
- Set up and maintain police vehicle systems including laptops and modems ensuring proper network connectivity and functionality in mobile environments.
- Collaborate with field teams to deploy and troubleshoot equipment in police vans ensuring the seamless operation of technology in vehicles.
- Systems Integration and Networking:
- Manage the integration of MTPDspecific software with broader IT systems ensuring interoperability with various WMATA and law enforcement tools.
- Work with IT infrastructure teams to design and maintain network configurations that support MTPDs operational needs including complex networking and infrastructure support.
- Ensure that MTPD systems adhere to WMATAs cybersecurity policies and implement necessary security controls.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for MTPD hardware and software issues providing Tier 2 and 3 support when necessary.
- Collaborate with internal IT teams law enforcement technology teams and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Conduct regular audits of MTPD systems to ensure compliance with organizational standards and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations installation processes and support activities.
- Provide regular reports to MTPD and WMATA management on system performance updates and any ongoing issues or projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of experience managing IT hardware and software systems including installation and configuration on desktops laptops and mobile devices.
- Experience with networking network design and infrastructure management including configuring routers switches and firewalls.
- Knowledge of mobile device management (MDM) tools and techniques particularly in a law enforcement or public safety environment.
- Familiarity with Windows Linux and mobile operating systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues involving hardware software and networks.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience working with law enforcement technology systems is a plus.

Experience with Motorola Computer Aided Dispatch and Records management system (CADRMS).

Knowledge of firewalls load balancers network design and other infrastructurerelated experience.

Physical Requirements: This role requires occasional lifting and installation of IT hardware (laptops modems routers) in various environments including police vans.

Support Hours: This role may require occasional afterhours or weekend work to support urgent MTPD operations or perform system upgrades and maintenance.
