Job Description

Job Title: Mainframe Developer / Lead

Location: Remote

Term: Contract (W2 Only)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop maintain and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL programming language.
  • Write and maintain JCL (Job Control Language) scripts for batch processing tasks.
  • Analyze business requirements and technical specifications to design efficient and scalable solutions within the insurance domain.
  • Perform unit testing and debugging of application code to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with business analysts systems analysts and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure compliance with coding standards performance optimization and best practices.
  • Provide support for production issues and perform troubleshooting and resolution as needed.
  • Document technical designs code and procedures for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay updated with industry trends technologies and best practices related to mainframe development and the insurance domain.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing development processes tools and methodologies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Mainframe Developer with strong proficiency in COBOL programming language.
  • Extensive handson experience with JCL (Job Control Language) for batch processing tasks.
  • Solid understanding of the insurance domain and related business processes.
  • Familiarity with DB2 or other mainframe databases is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic fastpaced environment.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git) and issue tracking tools (e.g. JIRA) is a plus.
