Job Description

We are hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for one of our clients in Albuquerque NM.

Job Description:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an inhome setting for the older adult population. The inhome setting could be a patients private residence or in a patients room in an independent living facility. Client Rehabilitation to You allows the Occupational Therapy Assistant to treat in the most functional environment which is the patients home. The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to patients to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. This position provides a flexible schedule and work environment in various settings.

Responsibilities/accountabilities:

  • Attends and contributes to patient care staffing conferences and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
  • Responsible for adherence to department and patient treatment schedule timely clinical and billing documentation requirements as well as work related meetings.
  • Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each patient.
  • Instructs patients families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
  • Maintains appropriate and timely documentation for all patients treated.
  • Cleans maintains identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment as necessary.
  • Puts Patient Service First: Ensures that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals needs and rights.
  • Implements a patients individualized treatment plan as established by the primary Occupational Therapist.
  • Provides individualized occupational therapy interventions including application of therapeutic techniques in such areas as but not limited to:
    • Cognitive skills
    • Muscle strength
    • Coordination
    • Endurance
    • Mobility
    • Perceptual abilities
    • Sensory awareness
    • Sitting and standing tolerance
    • Balance
    • Activities of daily living
    • Joint protection
    • Work simplification
    • Orientation
    • Physical agent modalities
    • Low vision
    • Falls risk management
    • Medication management
    • Health and wellness
    • Community integration and reintegration
  • 10. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program according to AOTA & ACOTE standards.
  • Initial certification obtained from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • They must be licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required in the state of practice.

Work hours:

  • Shift: first shift
  • 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Meal: 30 minutes
