Job Description

Summary:

The Hardware Engineering team at QuEra is seeking a talented Embedded Software Engineer to join us as we work on the next generation Quantum Control System. This person will report to the head of Hardware Engineering and will be a part of a team of software electrical and embedded systems engineers. In this role you will help advance the realtime control that is essential for the research and development needed to turn the potential of quantum computing into reality.

No prior experience in quantum computing is required for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Design implement test and maintain core software components of our quantum software stack.

  • Architect latencycritical software to execute quantum algorithms.

  • Collaborate closely with physicists algorithm developers and highlevel software programmers

  • Orchestrating intra and internode communication within distributed systems enhancing the processing of image and sensor data and seamlessly integrating custom electronics into our current systems.

  • The ideal candidate should excel in transforming a concept into fully functional productionready code.

  • This position is primarily focused on software engineering and will involve consistent collaboration with our internal hardware and electronics engineering teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering

  • High proficiency in coding with C/C & Python

  • Experience with Git and using CI/CD flows

  • Able to work in a Linux environment

  • Experience with multithreading applications RTOS and latency critical applications

  • Understanding of computer architecture and how to write efficient software

  • Experience with networking architecture and messaging protocols

  • Previous experience working with lowlevel interfaces such as I2C SPI & UARTs

  • Motivated selfstarter and problem solver with experience executing in multidisciplinary teams.

  • Handson laboratory experience with instrumentation test equipment and debug/test methods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the AMD/Xilinx SOC build flow

  • Working knowledge of digital/analog/mixed signal electronics components and interface/communication standards

  • Experience writing control software for hardware (e.g. robotics scientific instruments).

  • Experience with custom PCB board bring and test

  • Algorithmic experience in image processing or coding theory is a big plus
