Job Description
Job Title: Mainframe Developer
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing developing testing and maintaining mainframebased applications and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mainframe technology excellent programming skills and experience with mainframe development tools and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design develop test and maintain mainframebased applications and systems
- Write highquality efficient and welldocumented code in COBOL PL/I or other mainframe programming languages
- Participate in the full software development life cycle including requirements gathering design development testing and deployment
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve mainframerelated issues and errors
- Optimize mainframe system performance and ensure system reliability and availability
- Stay uptodate with industry trends and emerging technologies and apply this knowledge to improve mainframe development processes and systems
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in mainframe development with a strong background in COBOL PL/I or other mainframe programming languages
- Experience with mainframe development tools and methodologies such as IBM z/OS z/VM or z/VSE
- Strong understanding of mainframe architecture including hardware and software components
- Excellent problemsolving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop creative solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with crossfunctional teams
- Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
Nice to Have:
- Experience with mainframe integration with other systems such as cloudbased or distributed systems
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools such as Jenkins or Docker
- Experience with testing frameworks and tools such as JCL or zUnit
- Certification in mainframe development such as IBM Certified Application Developer Mainframe
