Overview:
The Estimator plays a crucial role in the organization by assessing project plans specifications and other documentation to prepare time cost and labor estimates for construction projects. They work closely with project managers engineers and clients to ensure accurate and competitive estimates that align with the companys goals and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project drawings specifications and other documentation to prepare accurate cost and time estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers engineers and subcontractors to gather essential project information.
- Assess labor material and equipment requirements for project estimates.
- Utilize estimation software and spreadsheets to calculate costs and create detailed reports.
- Review and comprehend bid documents contracts and project requirements to ensure accurate estimates.
- Present estimates to management clients and stakeholders with detailed breakdowns and supporting documentation.
- Conduct site visits and evaluations to gather information for accurate project estimates.
- Stay updated on industry trends cost factors and best practices to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
- Participate in bid meetings and negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist in developing project budgets and cost management plans.
- Resolve any discrepancies and issues related to project estimates and costs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies procedures and industry regulations.
- Provide support in value engineering and costsaving initiatives.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to obtain competitive material and equipment prices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management Civil Engineering or related field.
- Experience In the structural steel Industry in similar role
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Bluebeam Outlook and Microsoft Office
- Must understand means and methods of the steel fabrication and steel erection process
- Strong understanding of construction methods materials and processes.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills for accurate estimations.
- Strong experience reviewing contract drawings and specifications along with other information related to structural steel
- Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
- Detailoriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness.
- Knowledge of building codes regulations and safety standards.
- Experience in project cost control and budget management.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
