Overview
The Salon HR role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the salon by managing all human resources activities. The individual will play a key part in recruiting training and retaining top talent as well as establishing and enforcing HR policies to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the endtoend recruitment process for salon staff including advertising roles conducting interviews and making hiring decisions.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures specific to the salon industry ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.
- Oversee employee relations handling grievances conflicts and disciplinary actions in line with company policies and legal requirements.
- Conduct onboarding and training programs for new hires ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
- Collaborate with salon management to identify staffing needs and develop workforce planning strategies to meet business objectives.
- Administer payroll and benefits ensuring accurate and timely processing while managing employee inquiries regarding compensation and benefits.
- Facilitate performance management processes including goal setting performance reviews and development plans to support employee growth and career progression.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices leveraging this knowledge to enhance HR initiatives and support the overall business strategy.
- Provide guidance and support to salon managers and staff on HRrelated matters serving as a resource for employee questions and concerns.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with HR policies procedures and documentation while identifying and addressing areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate HR records and databases ensuring confidentiality and security of employee information in accordance with data protection regulations.
- Prepare and analyze HRrelated reports providing insights and recommendations to inform strategic decisionmaking.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work culture by organizing employee engagement activities recognizing achievements and promoting a supportive and collaborative environment.
- Handle exit processes professionally conducting exit interviews and ensuring smooth transitions for departing employees.
Required qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field.
- Proven experience in HR management preferably within the salon industry or a similar customerfacing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws regulations and best practices relevant to the salon and beauty industry.
- Strong understanding of recruitment methods candidate sourcing and selection techniques tailored to the salon business.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with diverse salon staff.
- Solid understanding of payroll benefits administration and employee relations with the ability to handle sensitive issues professionally and confidentially.
- Experience in developing and implementing HR policies procedures and compliance measures to support operational requirements.
- Proficiency in HRIS and other relevant software for managing employee data payroll and HR processes.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fastpaced salon environment.
- Proactive and strategic mindset with the capacity to identify HR challenges and develop innovative solutions that support salon growth and success.
- Ability to work effectively with salon managers and staff to promote a positive work culture employee engagement and professional development.
- HR certification (e.g. PHR SHRMCP) is preferred but not required.
- Uptodate knowledge of industry trends and advancements in HR practices particularly within the salon and beauty sector.
- High level of discretion and ethical conduct when handling sensitive employee information and HR matters.
- Fluency in relevant languages spoken in the salons location may be beneficial depending on the salons customer demographics.
