Job Summary:
We are hiring a detailoriented and experienced Same Day Surgery Coder to accurately code and bill outpatient surgeries performed on the same day. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding and billing processes with the ability to ensure compliance with coding standards and resolve any billing discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review surgical procedures performed on the same day and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Ensure all coding is in compliance with current guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures as needed for accurate coding.
- Resolve any issues related to coding and billing including denials and rejections.
- Maintain uptodate knowledge of coding changes and updates including ICD10 CPT and HCPCS codes.
- Ensure the timely submission of claims to maximize reimbursement.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in ICD10 CPT and HCPCS coding systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology anatomy and surgical procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with healthcare providers and billing teams.
- Knowledge of compliance regulations including HIPAA and payerspecific guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management Medical Coding or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical coding with specific experience in coding outpatient surgeries.
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or equivalent.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and coding software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a hospital or outpatient surgical center setting.
- Familiarity with payerspecific billing requirements and guidelines.
