Job Description

Facilities Ops Technician

Step into the spotlight at the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) as a Facility Operations Technician! This parttime role is your chance to join the backstage heroes who ensure every performance shines. You ll be an essential member of our live venue team providing vital support during all events.

What Youll Do:

o Preevent Preparation: Ensure DPAC readiness by setting up tables and chairs verifying restroom cleanliness and conducting building walkthroughs.

o Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to guests during events assisting with inquiries and needs.

o Monitoring Systems: Oversee HVAC to maintain safety and comfort for guests and performers.

o Assisting House Management: Support operational requests and adjust lobby flow as needed.

o Reporting: Generate nightly reports detailing event activities and maintenance needs.

o Minor Repairs: Address minor issues during events and coordinate repairs as necessary.

o Supervision: Oversee cleaning personnel to ensure thoroughness and prompt resolution of missed areas.

o Facility Maintenance: Perform light cleaning and general maintenance tasks as required.

o Emergency Response: Coordinate emergency repairs during events.



What You Bring:

o Supervisory Experience: Leadership skills and team oversight experience preferred.

o MS Word Skills: Basic level/understanding in Word.

o Software Aptitude: Ability to learn and utilize various software applications.

o Facility Management Knowledge: Understanding of essential systems and facility management principles.

o Flexible Schedule: Availability for varied work hours including nights weekends and holidays.

o Independence: Ability to work autonomously with initiative.

o Communication Skills: Clear verbal and written communication for reporting and interaction.

o Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships at all organizational levels.

o Customer Service: Commitment to exceptional guest service.

o Professional Appearance: Neat and professional demeanor always.


Physical Requirements:

o The ability to easily lift 30 50 pounds and engage in repetitive movements.

o The ability to walk extensively and climb stairs.

o May be exposed to adverse weather conditions.

o Ladder competency: physically capable of using a ladder by your grip strength standing balance and three points of contact; two hands and one foot or two feet and one hand.
