You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
1. Contract Position Title: Protestant Youth Ministry Coordinator
2. Minimum Standards of Education Qualification Experience: Coordinator must:
2.1. Be familiar with the essential teachings and religious practices of historic Christianity.
2.2. Be able to work within a Christian interdenominational and religiously pluralistic setting.
2.3. Possess at least three (3) years of experience leading a youth ministry/program to include:
2.3.1. Verifiable working experience in a local church;
2.3.2. Recruiting volunteers and planning events; and
2.3.3. Formulating and leading Bible studies as a small group leader or teacher.
2.3.4. Provide a resume that outlines these qualifications
2.4. Provide a letter of endorsement from current pastor/chaplain regarding youth ministry experience.
2.5. Possess at least two (2) years experience in creating/maintaining social media platforms.
2.6. Be proficient in and able to effectively use Microsoft Office products (Outlook Word PowerPoint and Excel).
2.7. Provide samples or a portfolio providing evidence in proficiencies with above requirements in social media and MS Office.
2.8. The ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
2.9. The ability to effectively accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
2.10. The ability to work with an advisory council to plan implement and evaluate community goals and objectives.
2.11. Pass a background check.
3. Program Requirements and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
3.1. Comply with Air Force Instructions (AFI) and local Operating Instructions (OI) that apply to this position.
3.1.1. Chaplain Corps AFIs are located at Under Product Index click on Departmental and then 52Chaplain.
3.1.2. Local Chapel OIs will be provided to the Coordinator upon initial award of contract whenever OIs are updated and upon request from the Coordinator.
3.2. Support the overall Chapel mission by working cooperatively with leadership staff members and volunteers.
3.3. Provide opportunities for students/youth to connect in community the Chapel through outreach enrollment recruitment training coordination and promotion of programs.
3.4. Oversee/coordinate all Protestant youth events/programs in cooperation and consultation with the Protestant Religious Education (RE) Coordinator and RE Chaplain.
3.5. Communicate and seek involvement of Protestant Advisory Council members and volunteers in plans and programs.
3.6. Plan coordinate schedule and recruit volunteers (especially the activeduty and their family members) for all Protestant youth activities in cooperation with the chapel staff and Religious Education Coordinator to include but not limited to:
3.6.1. Advent/Lenten/Easter socials and events
3.6.2. Airman Ministry Center (liaison for community involvement volunteers etc)
3.6.3. Annual CleanUp Day (volunteer ecumenical effort to cleanup Chapel facilities)
3.6.4. Bible Studies
3.6.5. Chapel youth volunteer appreciation events
3.6.6. Ecumenical Events
3.6.7. Organizational activities (Protestant Youth of the Chapel)
3.6.8. Vacation Bible School
3.6.9. Recurring Community fellowships
3.6.10. Seasonal celebrations (e.g. harvest celebration at end of October)
3.6.11. Special Events (Bowling Parties Community Picnics)
3.6.12. Service/mission projects
3.6.13. . Weekly Youth Group Meetings.
3.6.13.1. Plan coordinate and conduct weekly middle school and high school group meetings of at least one hour in duration. These weekly meetings will focus on spiritual growth the study of Scripture the application of faith to daily life and the importance of connection to the faith community. A minimum of two junior high school and two high school youth meetings with a discipleship/spiritual growth focus will be conducted for dependents of the Keesler AFB military community.
3.6.14. Monthly Special Event.
3.6.14.1. Plan coordinate and conduct one special event monthly for the combined middle school groups and for the high school group. These events should focus on outreach discipleship or team building. Special events will normally consist of activities involving ten or more youth within the community and be of at least 4 hours in duration.
3.6.15. Retreat.
3.6.15.1.1. Plan coordinate and conduct one local retreat for the middle and high school groups. A local retreat is defined as a retreat within a 4 hour driving radius.
3.6.16. Mission Work.
3.6.16.1. Develop and implement a plan for one outreach mission service project of at least 5days in length for high school students.
3.7. Ensure all volunteers working with youth below 18 years of age receive a background check as directed by DODI 1402.5 Criminal History Background Checks on Individuals in Child Care Services.
3.8. Arrange registration for respective events/programs keep a record of enrollment and attendance and maintain a current roster of the volunteer teachers and leaders.
3.9. Attend weekly monthly and asrequired meetings in order to coordinate respective events and submit a weekly activity report on existing and upcoming activities at Chapel staff and Protestant Advisory Council meetings. Notify Protestant RE Coordinator and RE Chaplain and/or Contract Monitor of anticipated delays and absences at least seven (7) days prior. If absent coordinator will find a substitute to support these requirements who meets the personnel qualifications per Paragraph 11.
3.10. Attend each worship at least once a month to oversee layled programs develop points of contact within each service and promote chapel programs and recruit volunteers.
3.11. Maintain approved postings on the Protestant youth portion of the chapel web page and social networking accounts. Coordinate updates with chaplain staff for approval prior to posting.
3.12. Assist the Protestant RE Coordinator and RE Chaplain in producing and distributing an annual calendar of all Protestant youth events and ministries.
3.13. Present a neat appearance and dress appropriately for religious services in accordance with local Chapel Operating Instructions.
3.14. Infrastructure Planning:
3.14.1. Assess youth religious support needs in the community
3.14.2. Propose programs to meet these needs to the sponsoring Protestant chaplain
3.14.3. Implement approved programs and evaluate program success through After Action Reports
3.14.4. Prepare and submit a budget
3.14.5. Submit fund requests through the sponsoring chaplain to the Chaplain fund. Note: Chapel funds should not be used for advance payments on behalf of the youth to be reimbursed by future fundraising activities. All fundraisers must be approved through the appropriate wing and chapel approval channels prior to fundraiser taking place.
3.14.6. Submit a projected calendar (to include special events recurring events as well as retreats and humanitarian projects planned for the year. At the same time submit the projected cost for each event and the planned fundraisers for those events.
4. Pluralistic Environment: The environment in which this contract is implemented is a religiously pluralistic and sensitive arena of numerous faith group and denominational traditions. The Coordinator accomplishes the terms of the contract in compliance with the mission requirements and standards set forth and defined by the Department of the Air Force and the Air Force Chaplain Corps. Activities and behavior to the contrary are viewed as grounds for contract termination.
5. Background Checks:
5.1. A criminal history background check must be initiated and completed for all Coordinators Coordinator substitutes and program volunteers working with children under 18 years of age.
5.2. If awarded the contract the Coordinator shall immediately submit a background check application to the Contract Monitor or designee in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1402.5 Criminal History Background Checks.
6. Dates Times and Performance Location(s).
6.1. Minimum of 15 maximum of 25 hours per week.
6.2. Maintain a presence during the Sunday morning worship service(s) and youth RE classes.
6.3. Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the beginning of classes.
6.4. Coordinate weekday office hours with the Protestant RE Coordinator and RE Chaplain and Contract Monitor who will along with Coordinator determine core working hours.
6.5. Coordinator will be notified in advance of changes with service times and building locations to arrange aforementioned services. Coordinator must be present at a predetermined time coordinated with the RE Coordinator and RE Chaplain prior to the start of events. Rate of payment for described services will be monthly.
7. List of organizationfurnished workspace supplies and equipment.
7.1. The Government will provide working space in Wing Chapel and all equipment as required for Coordinator personnel.
7.2. The Coordinator will be provided access to an office space with desk chair computer printer filing cabinet bookcases phone expendable office supplies and other items deemed necessary to perform services described in this PWS.
7.3. Due to limited resources and space the Coordinator may be required to share a workspace with other Coordinators.
7.4. Government owned furniture computers instruments sound equipment supplies etc. will not be moved without the express permission of an active duty Chaplain or Chaplain Assistant.
7.5. The Coordinator is accountable for the security and cleanliness of all facilities utilized in conjunction with their programs.
8. Standards of Dress: The Coordinator will be appropriately and neatly attired modest and well groomed. Shirts and blouses must have sleeves. Sleeveless Tshirts short shorts and short skirts are not acceptable. Hair and facial hair will be neat clean and properly trimmed.
9. Subcontracting During Periods of Absence:
9.1. The Coordinator will personally perform the services described within this PWS. If unable to perform duties for short periods of time (not to exceed two 2 weeks) the Coordinator is responsible for providing an alternate or substitute of equal or higher proficiency.
9.2. All Subcoordinators must meet the same qualifications as the Coordinator and be approved as suitable by the Contract Monitor or designee.
9.3. Submit the names and qualifications of proposed Subcoordinators to the Contract Monitor or designee for approval at least seven (7) calendar days prior to the proposed absence.
9.4. Coordinator is responsible for payment of any substitute or Subcoordinator.
10. Conference Travel: In the event that chapel funding is made available to send the Coordinator to a training conference participation may be approved by the Wing Chaplain or Contract Monitor.
Interested Candidates are requested to forward their resume together with three references from individuals who can attest to the candidates good work and steadiness. Candidates who do not possess the specific attributes/qualifications in section 2. Minimum Standards of Education Qualification Experience above need not apply. This is a parttime position with compensation based on budget and the successful candidates experience and qualifications.
