Job Description

Job Summary:
The Fund Accountant is responsible for managing the financial reporting and accounting processes for a portfolio of investment funds. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records preparing reports and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial principles excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare and review periodic financial statements including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements for the assigned funds.
    • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reports and statements.
    • Assist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements and coordinate with external auditors.
  • Fund Accounting:

    • Maintain the general ledger and subledgers for assigned funds.
    • Record daily transactions including capital calls distributions management fees and other fundrelated activities.
    • Reconcile bank accounts investment positions and other balance sheet accounts.
    • Calculate and report Net Asset Value (NAV) for each fund.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (e.g. GAAP IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare and submit regulatory filings as required by the jurisdiction of the fund.
    • Monitor and report on compliance with fund documents and agreements.
  • Investor Relations:

    • Prepare investor reports including capital account statements and investor capital call/distribution notices.
    • Respond to investor inquiries related to financial statements and account balances.
  • Process Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other members of the fund accounting team as well as other departments such as operations tax and compliance.
    • Provide support and mentorship to junior accountants as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
    • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience:

    • 25 years of experience in fund accounting public accounting or a related financial services field.
    • Experience with private equity hedge funds or real estate funds is a plus.
  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
    • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
