Job Summary:
The Fund Accountant is responsible for managing the financial reporting and accounting processes for a portfolio of investment funds. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records preparing reports and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial principles excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review periodic financial statements including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements for the assigned funds.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reports and statements.
- Assist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements and coordinate with external auditors.
- Fund Accounting:
- Maintain the general ledger and subledgers for assigned funds.
- Record daily transactions including capital calls distributions management fees and other fundrelated activities.
- Reconcile bank accounts investment positions and other balance sheet accounts.
- Calculate and report Net Asset Value (NAV) for each fund.
- Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (e.g. GAAP IFRS) and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings as required by the jurisdiction of the fund.
- Monitor and report on compliance with fund documents and agreements.
- Investor Relations:
- Prepare investor reports including capital account statements and investor capital call/distribution notices.
- Respond to investor inquiries related to financial statements and account balances.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other members of the fund accounting team as well as other departments such as operations tax and compliance.
- Provide support and mentorship to junior accountants as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience:
- 25 years of experience in fund accounting public accounting or a related financial services field.
- Experience with private equity hedge funds or real estate funds is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
