Network Engineer

We have our client the City of Memphis in need of a Network Engineer. This will be a Hybrid role (typically 23 days a week onsite) therefore candidates will need to be local or willing to relocate for the role.

They are want someone with specific Extreme Networks (Extreme Routing and Switching Extreme Fabric Connect ExtremeCloud IQ)

The Network Engineer will be assisting in the designing and maintaining of computer networks including local area networks (LANs) wide area networks (WANs) internet intranet cloud data center and other communications systems. The Network Engineer will work under the direction of the IT Infrastructure Manager and with various other departments and teams both technical and nontechnical.

Tasks:

• Performs administration and implementation tasks for the organization s network infrastructure including wired wireless and voice connectivity. Responds to requests for installation administration and support of network components and systems.
  
• Provides technical support for network issues network analysis installation configuration and support. Coordinates and makes assignments for the current and future requirements of assigned areas of responsibility.
  
• Implements and provides guidance related to processes and policies. Creates and maintains network documentation including scopes of works diagrams processes and test plans.
  
• Monitors network performance and investigates problems and outages to resolution.
  
• Evaluates and recommends solutions that are feasible cost effective compatible and consistent with the department and organization s strategic goals. Researches plans tests and supports the implementation of various business and technical solutions.
  
• Responds as required or requested on a 24/7 oncall basis to support the organization.
  
• Working with other network engineers and/or vendor support to reduce network service disruption.
  
• Takes initiative exercises sound judgement communicates and when necessary directs inside and outside resources to resolve problems.
  
• Perform network modeling analysis and planning for the enterprise
  
• Incorporate security best practices in Network design implementation
  

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 45 Years of Networking experience
  
• Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or similar field of study. Equivalent combination of experience and relevant industry certification may be substituted as appropriate
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  
• Ability to track manage and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner
  
• Ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous projects.
  
• Working Technical Knowledge in Network Automation and Network Design.
  
• Working knowledge in Enterprise Wireless Technology
  
• Working knowledge in Extreme Networks (Extreme Routing and Switching Extreme Fabric Connect ExtremeCloud IQ) is a plus.
  
• Working knowledge in low voltage structured cabling design and outside plant fiber optic cabling design.
