The Payments Innovation and Resilience Manager will work as a senior policy advisor on all issues relating to infrastructure developments and delivery across the UK payments landscape (both card and interbank systems) for example
Confirmation of Payee (CoP) and Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).The successful candidate will support the industry to ensure the safe efficient and timely delivery of infrastructure changes. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of core payment flows and ecosystems coupled with handson industry experience in implementing payment changes across various payment schemes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure Delivery Support:
o Engage with and facilitate and oversee where appropriate the delivery of significant infrastructure changes within the payment s ecosystem.
o Collaborate with regulators payment system operators and industry stakeholders to drive the safe and efficient implementation of payment systems enhancements.
o Provide expertise and guidance to members and other stakeholders on payment system implementation and operationalisation ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
2. Policy and Regulatory Guidance:
o Stay abreast of the latest developments in payment regulations and policies predominantly in the UK but also internationally providing insights and guidance to industry participants.
o Advocate for best practices and industry standards in the delivery of payment infrastructure projects.
3. Committee Support and Administration:
o Support the running of key member committees ensuring efficient and effective operation.
o Actively participate in committee meetings contributing to discussions and providing expert advice on payment infrastructure matters.
o Deputise for senior colleagues as required representing the client in highlevel industry meetings and discussions.
o Prepare agendas minutes and other administrative documents for committee meetings ensuring timely and accurate recordkeeping.
4. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the payments industry including financial institutions regulators and technology providers.
o Serve as a point of contact for industry participants seeking guidance on infrastructure delivery and regulatory compliance.
5. Project Management:
o Lead and manage infrastructure delivery projects when sponsored by the client or provide support if devivered through key stakeholders).
o Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
This post will also contribute to the production of a range of publications public affairs material and online media content.
Working in partnership with members of the payments team across a broad range of strategic issues relevant to payments infrastructure.
Jointly managing the client relationship with key regulators and payments sytems operators across the payments and innovation agenda acting as a technical expert including with HM Treasury the Bank of England the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Payment Systems Regulator (PSR).
Engage closely with and support the client colleagues and groups working on crosscutting projects/workstreams on a number of issues across payments digital data and economic crime.
Provide members with relevant market and regulatory insights to inform their own business planning.
Responsibility for preparing consultation responses Committee and Board papers and communicating with senior level representatives internally and externally.
Modelling the visions and values of the client.
Skills and competencies
Knowledge of the UK Europe and international payments ecosystems.
Knowledge and experience of the payments sector demonstrating an
understanding of:
o the challenges faced by members in running their businesses including the needs of members customers and clients
o the needs of regulators and authorities
Proven experience in the delivery of key recent infrastructure delivery projects like Confirmation of Payee RTGS Renewal Faster Payments Service (FPS) enhancements Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) contactless card changes and cards system rule changes.
Capable of acting as a subject matter expert and credibly representing the client externally with speeches webinars conference panels Chatham House discussions and potentially the media.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills together with the ability to effectively manage complex stakeholder relationships.
Ability to identify commercial opportunities and work collaboratively to realise them.
