Location: Vancouver BC
Workplace: Hybrid (3 days a week onsite)
Duration: ASAP to full 18 months
2. About the job
How would you contribute to creating visually stunning scenes in collaboration with Art and Engineering teams
How do you approach translating conceptual illustrations into outstanding realtime lighting visuals
Do you have experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 Frostbite or Snowdrop game engines
Can you demonstrate a strong understanding of realtime lighting principles and their application in creating tone and mood
Are you proactive in seeking feedback and communicating with relevant departments

3. Summary of the opportunity
Client Overview: We are a flagship firstparty studio within Xbox Game Studios known for the critically acclaimed Gears of War series. Our diverse and talented team pushes the limits of Microsofts entertainment platform and devices promoting respect inclusion and a growth mindset.
Role Summary: As an Intermediate Lighting Artist you will collaborate with Art Cinematic and Technical Art teams to create visually stunning scenes that support storytelling art direction and gameplay objectives. Solving technical challenges and anticipating constraints will be crucial to your role.
4. What are the key responsibilities
Work closely with Art Cinematic and Technical Art teams to create industryleading visuals across various environments.
Craft compelling lighting that enhances story art direction and gameplay objectives.
Translate conceptual illustrations into outstanding realtime lighting visuals.
Collaborate with Art and Technical Art teams to solve technical challenges within constraints and visual requirements.
Proactively seek feedback and communicate with Art Directors Lighting Lead Cinematic Director and relevant departments.
5. What experience are we looking for to drive success
MUSTHave Skills and Qualifications:
3 years of experience in video game or film production.
Portfolio demonstrating a strong understanding of lighting composition and color.
Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 Frostbite Snowdrop or similar game engines.
Good knowledge of realtime lighting principles atmospherics and postprocessing.
Thorough understanding of light shadow and color in creating tone and mood.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Background in realworld photography cinematography and lighting.
