Responsibilities:
- Manage, configure, and maintain both on-premises and cloud-based server infrastructure, including physical servers, virtual machines, and cloud instances in platforms like Azure.
- Manage, configure, and maintain Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Entra ID.
Microsoft Teams Administration:
- Manage team creation, deletion, and lifecycle.
- Configure team settings, including membership, guest access, messaging policies, and meeting options.
- Implement data loss prevention (DLP) policies for Teams chats and channels.
- Manage external access and guest user permissions within Teams.
- Monitor and troubleshoot Teams related issues, ensuring optimal performance and user experience.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest Teams features and functionalities, and implement them to enhance collaboration across the university.
- Implement security best practices for user accounts, data access, and overall Microsoft 365 environment.
- Monitor system health, performance, and capacity, and proactively identify and resolve any issues.
- Perform user provisioning, de-provisioning, and manage user permissions within Microsoft 365.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages like PowerShell.
- Perform server maintenance tasks, including patching, updates, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Experience with server hardware troubleshooting, including diagnosing and resolving common hardware failures.
- Possess a strong understanding of server operating systems, such as Windows Server and Linux.
- For cloud-based infrastructure, demonstrate experience with cloud service provider Microsoft Azure, including VM management, storage solutions, and networking.
- Troubleshoot technical problems related to Microsoft 365 services and provide support to faculty, staff, and students.
- Stay up to date on the latest Microsoft 365 features and functionalities, and implement them to improve efficiency and user experience.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure seamless integration of Microsoft 365 with other university systems.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate
- Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert
- Microsoft Teams Administrator Associate
- Identity and Access Administrator Associate
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) (for Linux experience)
- CompTIA Server+
- Additional relevant IT certifications are a plus.
