To control optimize and produce the quality of USALCO plant performance and product through process control in relationship to the ACH filtration processes. The assignment also requires that all federal and state regulations be followed during the work being performed in the facility. This position reports to the Production Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is a representative but not an allinclusive list of activities performed by the Filtration Operator. Other duties or special projects may be assigned.
- Responsible for all processes involved with ACH filtration.
- Monitors raw material and finished product inventories and reports to management as necessary.
- Follows procedures and records process data as required to make specification products.
- Conducts specific gravity and NTU checks to monitor filtration status.
- Collects sample of each finished goods after completion for lab analysis.
- Follow procedures to adjust the finished specific gravity of the tank.
- Operates ACH filter and sends finished product to ACH storage tanks. Cleans ACH filter and prepares the system for the next cycle.
- Maintains levels of storage tanks at safe levels particularly during filter operation and reactor pump out.
- Communicates filtration status to oncoming shift.
- Assists with unloading of empty totes and drums from truck.
- Assists other operators as needed.
- Facilitates the upkeep organization and maintenance of process equipment.
- Provides upkeep of grounds around ACH Production/filtration area as well as other areas of plant.
- Responsible for filtration of finished ACH product to final tanks. Strict adherence to established procedures is critical to achieving product specification.
- Responsible for the initiation and documentation of all technical information which may directly or indirectly relate to ACH filtration. Included are the batch sheets raw material information tank levels final adjustment of specific gravity and the results of product analysis.
- Responsible for movement of ACH from the prefilter tanks through filtration and into the tank farm area.
- Responsible for the overall housekeeping and general maintenance of the ACH filtration/production area as well as other areas of the plant.
- Responsible for using proper safety equipment making sure all safety equipment is in working order and if not promptly reporting any deficiencies to the production supervisor for immediate attention. Being in proper dress attire and always conducting themselves in a safe and proper manner at all times.
- Responsible for the startup and completion of any special duties or tasks that may arise during the operation as required by the Production manager of plant manager.
- Help ACH operators load ingots in the reactors as well as bring bundles around to reactors.
- Assist in plant wide cleanup efforts as needed.
- Learn the ACS Ion exchange filtration system as backup if needed.
- Learn ACH process as backup if needed.
Broad job knowledge is required to perform somewhat complex duties in an environment that is mostly hot and dusty. Considerable physical activity including moving about stairways and platforms lifting aluminum ingots working in difficult tight and uncomfortable places sweeping shoveling and some heavy lifting may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The assignment requires background in plant operations and a broad knowledge of all equipment and processes associated with producing ACH. Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations is required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Move and operate hoses and piping (hoses less than 50 pounds)
- Bend and stoop to move and operate pumps and other equipment.
- Lifting and loading aluminum into the reactors (ingots weigh up to 50 pounds)
- Walking on hard concrete surface and gravel roadways
- Use of stairs is required frequently to access production areas.
- Some periods of driving forklift as needed to move aluminum
- Use of impact wrench
- Opening and closing of water steam and PPAC/ACS lines and general valve operation.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
All USALCO Personnel are required to participate in all Corporate Safety Training Programs and any sitespecific safety training and policies.
