Our client the Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB) is a nonprofit charitable organization committed to creating a hungerfree community by providing healthy nutritious food those who need it most. They rely on the generosity of the community to support the work they do through the donation of food funds and time. These donations come from individuals families organizations and community groups as well as various fundraising/foodraising efforts.
The Central Okanagan Food Bank is looking for an enthusiastic Communications Coordinator to join their dynamic Kelowna team on a fulltime basis. As the successful candidate you will nurture engagement with all stakeholders and local community through customized and meaningful marketing initiatives that promote ongoing support for the organization. In collaboration with other members of the Development and Operations team you will have both internal and external focuses. The COFB has a dynamic and evolving team that encourages others to believe in their mission & mandate and who inspire others to collaborate with them to make the community a brighter more resilient place to live and work. Responsibilities:
Events and Fundraising:
- Support and manage all thirdparty fundraisers. Ensure the success of ad hoc and planned fundraisers by providing the necessary communication materials and marketing assets aligning all efforts with COFB values mission and mandate;
- Assist in the marketing assets and accountable timelines for flagship events;
- Lead with enthusiasm and confidence. Inspire and empower individuals service groups corporations and beyond to support COFB s cause effectively conveying the impact of their contributions with passion and clarity;
- Build steward and maintain a pipeline of thirdparty organizers and community partners to maintain and increase engagement year over year;
- Be a dynamic presence at in the community ensuring the best possible outcomes by maintaining high energy and leaving lasting positive impressions in every interaction.
Communication and Digital Presence:
- Share the COFB story in a way that captivates and endears the organization to the community. Create press releases blog posts website content newsletter marketing materials collection bins and signage that resonate from an accurate and empowered place;
- Develop and schedule cuttingedge content for traditional and digital media. Engage and inspire community advocates across a multitude of platforms including social media creating a strong and vibrant support base;
- Optimize methodologies to measure effectiveness of social remarketing campaigns across multiple channels. Use your analytical skills to refine organizational strategies and maximize impact;
- Approach unfamiliar trends and new opportunities with curiosity and vigor. Be willing to experiment and innovate without the fear of failing or falling short;
- Research design and present branded options for volunteer engagement/retention internal team cohesiveness to be proudly worn out in community;
- Create content and manage all social media accounts for the COFB.
Advocacy and Administration:
- Measure results maintain detailed and accurate events files such as database contact and financial information for all thirdparty initiatives;
- Assist in the gathering of research and other relevant information regarding the social issues that are related to the mission of the organization and what the community cares about;
- Support and lead initiatives that help the COFB team understand stakeholders better such as stewardship grids event surveys and tracking to ensure recognition and stewardship policies are consistently evolving and followed;
- Discern work priorities work autonomously and meet deadlines with little supervision and direction;
- Collaborate and foster a dynamic and passionate work environment and periodically provide administration support to other members of the COFB team to support equally motivated and driven employees of the organization;
- Manage donor stewardship program and follow thru on feedback loop to all stakeholders on the impact and meaning of their gift;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in fund development and stewardship;
- Related community college or university degree preferred;
- Relevant experience in nonprofit fundraising including the development of individual giving agency relations and food aid programming;
- Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising trends and successful fundraising strategies;
- Exceptional relationship management including written and oral communication skills;
- Competency in Word Excel PowerPoint Canva and Mail Chimp programs. Experience in Google Analytics an asset;
- Familiarity and knowledge of donor database programs;
- Graphic design skills experience or education a plus;
- Ability to relate effectively with diverse audiences including board members major donors foundation staff media outlets and community audiences;
- Highly organized and flexible with the ability to work autonomously to manage multiple priorities tasks and relationships in fastpaced nonprofit environment;
- Valid driver s license and reliable transportation to attend donor businesses schools events and other related locations throughout the Okanagan valley required;
- This position may require occasional evening or weekend work.
This is a fulltime onsite opportunity. Salary will be aligned with experience level and is anticipated to start between $52000 to $58000 per year. In addition to base salary the COFB offers an employer paid comprehensive benefit plan and a vacation entitlement that allows for work/life integration.
