Food Safety Officer Supervisor

A well established company is currently recruiting for a Food Safety Officer / Supervisor (Offshore) in Ghana

Assist the IMS manager in developing maintaining and implementing Company Food Safety

Management System offshore.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of working experience in the role
• Bachelors degree in Food Technology Biological Science Food Science Agric Science or Microbiology
• Certification in ISO 22000 Lead Implementor / Lead Auditor.
• Valid Offshore certificates (Offshore experience is a mandatory requirement for the role)
• Communication skills generate reports and training materials and verbal communication skills to delegate tasks to other crew members.
• Organization skills manage multiple safety projects and analyse multiple studies concurrently.
• Analytical thinking good analytical skills and the ability to think critically for Food Safety Solutions.
• Public speaking give presentations and present oral reports regarding Food Safety hazards within a specific workplace or geographic area.
• Leadership manage other crew staff members and assign them specific investigative tasks. Able to work independently with minimal supervision whiles developing and maintaining professional relationship with internal and external stakeholders and work effectively with all categories of staff.

Responsibilities:

• Identify any potential Food Safety hazards and implement control measures to prevent them.
• Ensure that food is safe to eat labelled and handled properly to provide assurance along the food chain from suppliers to company food processing points.
• Ensure all crew members receive the proper training on the correct Food Safety practices.
• Monitor all crew members on the vessel to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene.
• Handle any issues of noncompliance to laid down company safety standards.
• Act as a point of contact for all Food Handlers on the vessel as well as food safety authorities.
• Formulate and update Food Safety manual PRP programs and HACCP worksheet and Plan.
• Ensure that the crew members comply with all relevant Food Safety standards and codes.
• Implement and monitor sanitary and hygiene conditions during production and packing of food products.
• Overall responsibility for initiating corrective action in the event of product nonconformance.
• Perform daily checks on the business for any breaches of food safety.
• Conduct monthly inspections at the various sites for further improvement and take corrective action(s) if necessary.
• Coordinate with third parties like labs certification regulatory authorities for Calibrations and Microbiological analyses.
• Assist the IMS Manager in updating Food Safety Management System.
• Responsible for implementing the Food Safety Management System.
• Responsible for internal verification of daytoday activities (checking that all forms & records are filled and are up to date).
• Assist storekeepers in receiving raw materials.
• Maintain hygienic atmosphere in the food production area.
• Participate as an Auditee in Internal Surveillance and External Management System certification audits.
• Any other related duties assigned from time to time.
