Job Description

We are looking for the

R&D Manager for Savory

  • s/he is responsible for organizing managing directing and overseeing the activities of units within the Savory R&D Department.
  • Additionally this role involves designing new savory flavors modifying existing flavors selecting appropriate flavors for application areas conducting finished product trials and providing technical support to customers when necessary.
  • you will lead a team of 20

Tasks

Functional Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Organize execute approve and document design and development activities and design changes in accordance with relevant workflow diagrams and instructions.
  2. Ensure the use of available raw materials from our stock for formula changes and ensure shelflife suitability for all raw materials used.
  3. Ensure compliance with legal regulations for design work by collaborating with the relevant department.
  4. Request or provide necessary training for subordinates to meet their educational needs.
  5. Ensure that initial productions are carried out onsite and according to instructions when necessary.
  6. Attend R&DMarketing information meetings and facilitate information exchange when required.
  7. Participate as a sensory test jury member in Application Laboratories when necessary.
  8. Provide technical support to Quality Control Purchasing and Production departments as needed.
  9. Resolve customer issues by visiting customers with Marketing or ensuring the relevant person from the department does so if necessary.
  10. Conduct trial studies on Maillard reaction flavors and carry out industrialscale production trials for those deemed suitable.

Shared Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Be aware of policies and goals related to Integrated Management Systems (systems combining multiple management systems for all processes and activities) BRC Halal Management and Social Responsibility; work in accordance with relevant rules and instructions and inform the team and colleagues about these matters.
  2. Understand policies related to ISO27001 Information Security Management System adhere to relevant instructions and rules report incidents handle classified information appropriately including its use transfer and storage.
  3. Warn and report to the manager if unauthorized personnel visitors or contractors are found in the working area.
  4. Regularly monitor the performance of employees track their personal development take actions related to personal development conduct fair and effective performance evaluations and provide feedback on performance through oneonone meetings.
  5. Inform and raise awareness among subordinates monitor practices communicate with other departments and make necessary notifications.
  6. Educate subordinates about personal hygiene and personal protective equipment (e.g. work clothing shoes) monitor practices and provide reminders when necessary.
  7. Provide effective onboarding training to new employees ensure their participation in incompany training programs and monitor their progress.
  8. Contribute to the suggestion system inform other employees about the suggestion system and encourage them to provide suggestions.
  9. Report necessary information reports developments and issues related to the specified duties and responsibilities to the manager and update on activities.
  10. Fulfill any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the manager and senior management related to the position.

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure new employees comply with corporate personnel regulations and basic work rules as defined in the Orientation Program planned by the Human Resources Department and provide/arrange training on workplace OHS rules as defined by the Personnel Regulation.
  2. Analyze the OHS training needs of the responsible team in coordination with the OHS Department request from the Human Resources Department ensure participation in all corporate company training planned by the HR Department (such as Quality Food Safety OHS Emergency Situations like Fire/Earthquake) provide or arrange onthejob training and track the effectiveness of the training received.
  3. Inform employees about hazards and risks related to OHS in a timely manner predefine what should or should not be done under OHS rules and measures ensure every employee internalizes their OHS responsibilities and request training on OHS if needed.
  4. Monitor compliance with safety rules identify problems assist in solving them and report unresolved issues to Managers and the Management Representative.
  5. Inspect the work area machinery tools and equipment report problems to the superior and propose solutions.
  6. Notify and track the timely provision of personal protective equipment.
  7. Contribute to the implementation and improvement of OHS rules.
  8. Serve as a positive example and leader to employees.

Requirements

Required experience

  • BS/Master/PhD in chemistry food science or related science
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in creating winning flavors for all savory applications
  • Expert knowledge of raw materials flavor ingredients flavor formulation analytical methods and regulatory requirements
  • Flavourist educuation
  • Teamleading

Personal skills

  • Fluency in English
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel
  • Selfmotivating dynamic person with a can do attitude
