Job Description

About the Client:


A fastgrowing automotive EV company part of a leading business conglomerates. The Group has 29 businesses including ten listed Companies traded in NSE & BSE.


Position Responsibilities:

  • BMS Architecture Design: Designing the overall architecture and system topology of the BMS including the hardware and software components to ensure accurate monitoring control and protection of the battery pack.
  • Cell Monitoring and Balancing: Designing the circuitry and algorithms to monitor individual battery cells voltage temperature and state of charge (SOC) and implementing cell balancing techniques to ensure uniform cell performance and maximize the battery packs lifespan.
  • State Estimation and Prediction: Developing algorithms to estimate the batterys state of health (SOH) state of charge (SOC) and remaining energy (SOE) accurately. This involves implementing battery models considering factors such as voltage sag internal resistance and battery aging.
  • Thermal Management: Designing algorithms and methods to monitor and manage the battery packs temperature ensuring safe and optimal performance. This includes temperature sensors cooling systems and thermal management strategies.
  • Safety and Fault Detection: Designing safety features such as overvoltage protection undervoltage protection overcurrent protection and short circuit protection. Implementing fault detection and diagnostic algorithms to identify and manage potential system failures or abnormalities.
  • Communication and Integration: Designing communication interfaces to integrate the BMS with other vehicle systems such as the vehicle control unit (VCU) and charging infrastructure. This includes protocols like CAN bus for data exchange.
  • Algorithm Development: Developing advanced algorithms for predictive modeling state estimation optimal charging powertrain integration and energy management strategies to improve the overall performance and efficiency of the electric vehicle.
  • Testing and Validation: Conducting extensive testing and validation of the BMS design including functional testing performance testing and safety testing to ensure reliable operation and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with crossfunctional teams including electrical engineers software engineers mechanical engineers battery pack designers and vehicle integration specialists to ensure seamless integration and functionality of the BMS within the electric vehicle.
  • Stay Uptodate: Staying informed about the latest developments in battery technologies BMS components algorithms and industry standards to incorporate advancements and best practices into the BMS design.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in designing and developing lithiumion battery management systems for electric vehicles preferably in an automotive or related industry.
  • Proficiency in battery management system hardware design including battery management integrated circuits (ICs) sensors and communication interfaces
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as C C and Python for developing battery management system software and algorithms and communication protocols CAN 2.0AB
  • Familiarity with battery modeling state estimation and control algorithms for optimized battery usage and longevity
  • Knowledge of electric vehicle system architecture including highvoltage systems power distribution and safety considerations
  • Experience with battery testing and validation methods including electrical thermal and environmental performance tests
  • Understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations such as ISO 26262 AIS related to electric vehicle battery systems
