Kennels / Transport Officer

Job Summary:

Successful candidates will be responsible for caring and good health of all dogs in Council facilities collecting accepting dogs into facility as well as arranging for and carrying out the removal out of the facility.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

Making sure that dogs are in good health and properly cared for whilst in kennels and being transported.

Animal Welfare.

Cleanliness of kennels.

Awareness of reportable or communicable disease.

Transportation of dogs.

Dealing with member of the public.

Dealing with confrontation.

Reporting defect to vehicle and equipment.

Essential Experience Required:

Experience of working in kennels environment in all weathers.

Experience in handling of aggressive and dangerous dogs.

Working knowledge of the Animal Welfare Act.

Working knowledge of the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Additional information to note:

Must have Driving licence and Own transport.

Work shift pattern working outside normal hours including evenings and weekend flexibility to change shift according to service requirements.

Cover for permanent position.

The Council will undertake a financial fraud check for all new placements that start with the Council.
