Network Security Engineer

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer to join our IT security team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network security with experience in designing implementing and managing security solutions to protect our network infrastructure. As a Network Security Engineer you will be responsible for safeguarding our systems against unauthorized access cyber threats and data breaches. You will work closely with crossfunctional teams to ensure the security and integrity of our network environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Network Security Design & Implementation:
  • Design implement and maintain network security solutions including firewalls VPNs intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and other security devices.
  • Develop and enforce security policies procedures and standards to protect network infrastructure and data.
  • Implement security measures to safeguard against unauthorized access malware and other cyber threats.
• Security Monitoring & Incident Response:
  • Monitor network traffic and security events using security information and event management (SIEM) tools to detect and respond to potential threats.
  • Investigate security incidents perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct regular security assessments vulnerability scans and penetration testing to identify and mitigate risks.
• Network Infrastructure Management:
  • Manage and maintain network security devices and systems ensuring they are properly configured and up to date with the latest patches and firmware.
  • Collaborate with the network engineering team to ensure secure network architecture and design.
  • Review and assess network configurations and changes to ensure they meet security requirements.
• Security Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations standards and best practices (e.g. PCIDSS HIPAA NIST).
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies.
  • Maintain uptodate documentation of security policies procedures and incident response plans.
• Collaboration & Training:
  • Work closely with IT development and operations teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of the network and system design.
  • Provide training and support to employees on security best practices and awareness.
  • Stay informed of the latest cybersecurity threats trends and technologies and share knowledge with the team.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Security or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network security engineering or a similar role.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of network security principles protocols and technologies.
  • Proficiency with security tools such as firewalls IDS/IPS SIEM VPNs and antimalware solutions.
  • Experience with network protocols routing and switching as well as network security monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud security especially in environments such as AWS Azure or Google Cloud is a plus.
  • Understanding of encryption technologies secure access controls and identity management.
• Certifications:
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA Security) or similar are preferred.
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong problemsolving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
