Job Description

Job Description:
The Credit Controller will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the companys credit control function. This position involves maintaining accurate customer accounts managing credit risk and ensuring timely collections to support the financial health of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices.
  • Conduct thorough credit checks on new customers and set appropriate credit limits.
  • Regularly review and assess the creditworthiness of existing customers.
  • Proactively follow up on overdue invoices via phone email and letters within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain detailed records of all credit control activities and communications.
  • Negotiate payment plans and terms with customers experiencing financial difficulties.
  • Prepare and distribute regular aging reports to senior management.
  • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to resolve billing disputes and discrepancies.
  • Process and accurately allocate incoming payments to customer accounts.
  • Perform account reconciliations and promptly resolve any discrepancies.
  • Recommend accounts for legal action or writeoff based on company policies.
  • Provide regular updates on credit and collections status to management.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports related to credit and collections.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships while enforcing payment terms.
  • Implement and maintain credit control policies and procedures to improve cash flow and reduce bad debt.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field preferred.
  • Proven 4 years of experience as a Credit Controller or in a similar credit and collections role ideally within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel.
  • Strong understanding of credit management principles and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations regarding credit and collections in the food manufacturing industry is a plus.
