Job Description

Our client is a leading multinational coal mining company primarily involved in coal mining operations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Legal Head in providing legal advice and support to the companys management and departments on various legal issues.
  2. Ensure compliance with relevant laws regulations and industry standards in the companys operations.
  3. Support the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks.
  4. Assist in drafting reviewing and negotiating contracts agreements and other legal documents to protect the companys interests.
  5. Help manage and maintain a repository of all legal documents ensuring proper documentation and recordkeeping.
  6. Support litigation and dispute resolution processes working with external legal counsel when necessary.
  7. Assist in representing the company in legal proceedings mediations and arbitration sessions.
  8. Help ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and practices.
  9. Assist in preparing and reviewing board resolutions minutes of meetings and other corporate documents.
  10. Identify and assess potential legal risks developing strategies to mitigate them under the guidance of the Legal Head.
  11. Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  12. Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal matters and compliance issues.
  13. Liaise with external legal advisors regulatory bodies and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and representation of the companys interests.
  14. Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to support business initiatives and projects.
  15. Assist in leading and mentoring the legal team fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelors degree in Law is required; a Masters degree in Law or its equivalence is preferred.
  • PERADI certified.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a combination of law firm and corporate legal roles with significant exposure to the mining or natural resources sector.
  • Proven track record of managing complex legal matters and providing strategic legal counsel.
  • Strong understanding of international and local laws and regulations related to the coal mining industry.
  • Excellent negotiation communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • High ethical standards and professional integrity.
