Job Description
Operation Engage is a partnership project led by the Metropolitan Police with focus on deployment of outreach youth support for young people in custody following their arrest. Key aim is to provide early intervention and support to young people to divert them from further involvement in offending.
A minimum of 2 years experience working with children and young people aged 11-19 particularly young people who are vulnerable. Demonstrable experience of assessing young people and managing a case load of young people with complex needs and often challenging behaviour and working in partnership to deliver high quality interventions that challenge and change behaviour, support young people into a positive lifestyle, prevent negative outcomes and achieve high quality outcomes. Experience of working with families / parents/carers in a multi-agency environment. Demonstrable skills in forming positive, productive and professional relationships with children and young people and an understanding of the issues that affect children and young people Demonstrable skills and experience that can be of benefit for the personal development and informal learning of children and young people An understanding how children learn and the ability to be creative and innovative in working with children and young people An understanding of how to protect children from significant harm Demonstrable communication skills and a demonstrable ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, to varied audiences with different levels of comprehension and communication skills [e.g. young people or senior managers in children s services or partner agencies or communities]. Demonstrable substantial experience in working in successful teams and playing a part in team success.
