Integrum Power Engineering Part of the OCU Group is an electrical engineering design & build contractor and ICP specialising in high voltage power transmission & distribution projects. Our industry sectors include utilities renewable energy rail and private networks. We offer engineering services across the full project lifecycle from feasibility studies and design through to installation commissioning and asset management.
About the job
The PreContract Commercial Manager willlead the precontract commercial team to maximise our margins reduce cost and increase timely cash collection into the business.You will also lead all processes required to safely deliver our works whilst maintaining compliance to company procedures and policies.
The Commercial Manager will ensure the commercial team members are supported encouraged and receive the necessary training/coaching in order to develop.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the subcontract procurement process
- Review main contracts to develop a strategy to flow down the appropriate level of risk to subcontactors and ensure our contractual responsibilities are captured in our subcontracts.
- Draft subcontracts for execution.
- Establishment and maintenance of supplier database
- Proactively work with the bid teams and preconstruction teams to facilitate and perform subcontract procurement exercises.
- Take part in bid settlement meeetings to advise on the feasibility of subcontact costs and any potential pricing risks
- Review proposed contracts with clients and negotiate terms which maximise our opportunity to improve margin and meet OCU Groups minimum required position.
- Work with the wider commercial team to manage live contracts overseeing and mentoring more junior commercial team members.
What you will need to be successful:
- Extensive experience in both commercial delivery and procurement within UK construction projects.
- Strong contractual understanding and experience with NEC Contracts.
- Energetic positive person with a wish to solve problems and comply with procedures.
- Proven record of experience running multiple projects and managing / leading several teams.
- Ability to generate develop and manage Professional services agreements Subcontract agreements and obligations.
- Ability to deliver senior management objectives.
- Ability to communicate at all levels
- Full driving licence.
- A commercial diploma or degree is preferable.
- Chartered Status or willing and able to work towards it is preferrable.
- Experience with other forms of contracts common in the UK (FIDIC JCT ICC) is preferrable.
