Job Description

The Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB) is the leading international think tank on business and human rights. IHRBs mission is to shape policy advance practice and strengthen accountability in order to make respect for human rights part of everyday business.

Overview

The Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB) is recruiting a Programme Manager to drive its Built Environment programme in Spain and across the wider region which strengthens collaboration policy and practice on human rights in the built environment particularly nondiscrimination and inclusion the right to adequate housing physical and mental health and construction workers rights.

If you have a deep understanding of the built environment sector are passionate about rightsbased social change are experienced working with multilateral approaches and have a strong track record of influencing policy within business and / or government then this role is for you.

The programme has recently published Advancing Just Transitions for the Built Environment showcasing two years of global research on human rights in the green transition and detailing toolkits examples and recommendations for a just transition in the built environment. We will now be focusing on operationalising these recommendations by working closely with civil society frontrunning businesses and policymakers.

You will be supporting the programmes wider work including increasing awareness and uptake of the Dignity by Design framework currently being piloted in Bergen and Utrecht the Built Environment Academy and other emerging initiatives as well as being part of a wider IHRB team working on issues including migrant workers shipping commodities just transitions and more.

The Role

Title: Programme Manager Built Environment
Reporting to: Head of Built Environment
Start date: October 2024
Hours: Fulltime (37.5 hours per week) or part time (30 hours per week)
Location: Remote/Homebased in Spain or within easy train access to travel across Spain on a regular basis. Candidates must have permission to work in the country of their location.
Duration: 1 year with 3month probationary period. Potential to extend subject to funding.
Pay:per month
Good to know: The successful candidate will be engaged through a consultancy agreement. They will need to be registered as selfemployed and will be responsible for managing their own taxes insurance and any other legal or financial obligations.


      Your Responsibilities

      Working closely with the Head of Built Environment other Built Environment team colleagues and the wider IHRB team the Programme Manager will advance the respect for human rights in Spain and Europes built environment through:

      Stakeholder Engagement (25%)

      Fundraising and Donor Management (10%)

      IHRB collaboration and support (10%)
