Accounting Manager
Overview
Our client, a high growth transportation and logistics organization, is seeking an experienced accountant to join their expanding team in Southwest Florida. We are searching for a self-starter who is eager and open-minded to learn and grow professionally alongside Company leadership. The ideal candidate will have the drive to succeed in a fast-paced environment, is willing and able to support the day-to-day accounting functions, and most importantly will have a thorough understanding of the Accounts Payable cycle.
In this role, you will be engaged in all Accounting Department operations including monitoring the company s financial status, performing month-end close transactions, paying invoices, and completing bank reconciliations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage payables for several entities during rapid growth to ensure accurate reporting
- Create and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded, and support the month-end close process
- Perform monthly account reconciliations
- Maintain fixed assets register and generate monthly depreciation calculation and accounting entries
- Support as requested in the annual financial audit process, taxes, and other compliance activities
- Maintain detailed and accurate reconciliation schedules for all accounts
- Provide guidance to junior team members
- Review, obtain approval, and input all employee expense reports and corporate credit expenses following the company s policies
- Maintain accounts payable workflow including new vendor setup, W-9s, verifying, coding, routing, securing invoice approval and posting
- Research and review:
- Invoice auditing
- Any discrepancies or outstanding balances on vendor accounts
- Relationship management with current and prospective vendors, fellow employees, banks, and lenders
- Setting and facilitating general accounting structure, improvements, and AP workflow processes to increase accuracy and efficiency in a consistent manner
- Other accounting and administrative functions as necessary
Requirements
- Work experience as an Accounting Manager, Controller, or similar role
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation
- Hands-on experience with general ledger accounts payable functions
- CPA preferred
- BSc or MSc in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including effective interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Familiarity with the following Microsoft Office applications:
- Excel
- Outlook
- OneDrive
- Teams
- A resourceful and detail-oriented team player
- Ability to commute to our client s Bonita Springs office location daily
