You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES: Duties: • Conduct equipment maintenance and commissioning requests as the primary (or secondary) technician for specific medical equipment. • Schedule, in coordination with departmental head and conducts periodic preventative maintenance (PPM) and corrective maintenance and communicates this maintenance schedule to end-users. • Provide Biomedical Engineering services through adherence to policies, procedures, processes, and systems, to ensure compliance with all relevant Aspetar requirements. • Provide support for all medical equipment services in terms of service, delivery, efficiency and cost effectiveness, and professionalism. • Test and calibrate equipment to ensure it meets its specification and labels the equipment after tests have been completed. • Evaluate and prepare reports on unique or recurring equipment problems. Monitor spare parts in stock as part of a contingency plan for breakdowns. • Work on specialized and life-support equipment in the capacity of lead unit expert. • Support interfacing of Biomedical Devices including laboratory equipment to Hospital information Systems (EMR/HIS/LIS). • Collaborate with Biomedical Integration Technologist to facilitate interfacing and network connectivity for existing Biomedical devices and new implementations. Includes the troubleshooting of Biomedical devices as well with HIS interface problems. • Inspect new equipment and ensures machine specifications are correct based on project orders (i.e. manuals are delivered, settings are correct, electrical safety checks, etc.). • Assign property asset equipment numbers to new purchases and inputs required inventory information into Database. • Obtain and file vendor equipment manuals and prepares internal user manuals. • Train staff on new equipment use. Attend scheduled meetings to discuss department developments, on-going issues (repair delays) and suggests areas for improvement. • Provide data to the Head of Biomedical Engineering for analysis of department operations and performance as required. • Log equipment maintenance status reports and PPM and corrective maintenance schedules into Asset Plus Database. • Attend technical trainings and vendor workshops on use of new equipment. • Maintain current knowledge in international testing and quality management issues and applicable standards. • Demonstrate an on-going commitment to service quality improvement and ensure a high-level commitment to professional job performance and customer service throughout the hospital, clubs and federations. • Perform all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner. • Promote and maintains effective communication within the department and the Facility in general that ensures team works together towards achieving the departmental objectives. • Participate in quality assurance and risk management activities, pertaining to biomedical equipment and systems. • Liaise with equipment suppliers, user departments and purchasers on the commissioning of biomedical equipment and systems. • Participate in quality assurance and risk management activities, pertaining to biomedical equipment and systems. • Provide technical consulting to end-users in engineering, functional, and application aspects pertaining to biomedical equipment when required. • Assume or accept any other responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor within the position role and responsibility. • Patient Safety-Attend and successfully complete competencies which focus on patient safety initiatives implemented within Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. Patient Safety Training is an annual requirement, to include all organizational leaders, staff, service, and contracted providers. Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job: • Minimum 4 to 6 years of related experience of which a minimum of 2 years should be in a similar position / responsibility, preferably in a similar Industry. • Demonstrated knowledge of medical equipment servicing and intended use over a wide range of electronic biomedical equipment. This includes specialized in-depth knowledge and experience with some classes of equipment and integration of Biomedical devices with HIS. Education and Certification requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, or biomedical engineering or equivalent. • Additional supplementing equipment specific training provided by recognized training organizations including manufacturers or training centres is an added advantage/preferred.
