Position: Data Engineer Data Catalog (Alation)

Location: Chicago IL

Duration: 612 Months

Required Experience:

5 years experience in Data Governance data catalog and data stewardship

Deep understanding of data governance capabilities including data catalog data dictionary business lineage technical lineage and stewardship workflows

Handson experience with configuration and maintenance of catalog tool i.e. Alation (MUST HAVE)

Handson experience with programing languages such as SQL HTML Java Python and others

Handson experience with onboarding metadata from various sources including SQL Server Oracle Azure cloud and others

Understanding of cloud technologies such as Azure (preferable) google AWS and snowflake

Understanding of ETL technologies such as Mulesoft ADF talend SSIS

Familiar with data quality practices and its integration with data catalog

Comfortable working independently and with other teams/vendors to resolve issues

Good communication and writing skills

Roles & Responsibilities:

Responsible for daytoday configuration and maintenance of data catalog platform

Work closely with project teams to help with delivering catalog use cases which include design configuration and deployment.

Validate lineage diagrams and modify/change as required.

Responsible for integrating with new data sources for metadata acquisition.

Develop customizations as required for use cases which may include API integrations custom dashboards and workflows

Working with Clients teams and vendor to resolve technical issues in the platform.
