Job Description
The Role:
- Senior Automation Engineer
- Kilkenny
- Hybrid Onsite role with some remote working possibly. Max 1 to 2 days per week depending on project requirements
- Permanent or Contractor
Role Brief:
As a Senior Automation Engineer your primary responsibility will be to offer expert software support for various manufacturing processes. Youll play a vital role in designing planning and supporting the implementation of highspeed automation lines.
This position involves taking the lead in technical aspects such as PLC communications vision systems and RFID communications. Youll coordinate efforts with suppliers to ensure successful automation and software support. Additionally youll oversee the work of technical validation and junior engineering staff collaborating with product teams department heads equipment manufacturers R&D quality control and regulatory personnel
Responsibilities:
- Control and implement any relevant engineering changes.
- Independently conceive and develop approaches to the solution of problems which require application of advanced technical knowledge applies working knowledge of related disciplines.
- Solve problems with a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements unsuitability of conventional materials and difficult coordination requirements.
- Independently design and lead complex engineering studies and experiments often with multiple variables.
- Analyse complex problems and identify their impact as well as establish probabilities.
- Draw conclusions reflecting broad business needs.
- Set complex design and process requirements.
- Complete documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with business standards.
- Lead and/or participate on technical crossfunctional teams to support organizational goals.
- Understand and comply with applicable EHS policies procedures rules and regulations.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Industry Automation Mechatronics Computer science Electrical engineering or equivalent technical experience and demonstrated competence.
- Additional postgraduate education may contribute toward the desired years of experience.
- Typically requires 6 years of significant engineering and / or operational experience to develop the competence to meet the skills and responsibilities of the position
- Engineers trained in one branch of the Engineering field may work in related branches of engineering provided demonstrated transferable skills.
Preferred Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge on PLC programming with Allen Bradley/Siemens/Codesys controls systems.
- Expert knowledge of Cognex vision systems.
- Working knowledge of RFID communications.
- Experience in generation / execution of software test plans.
- Experience in FAT SAT commissioning & validation of highspeed automation equipment.
